the Karel Brückner era begins

July 25th, 2008 | By: j | No Comments »

To the surprise of many, the ÖFB announced that former Czech Republic coach Karel Brückner will take over for Josef Hickersberger who stepped-down after the Euros.

The sixty-eight year old Czech native has spent the overwhelming majority of his career coaching within the Czech republic with the last ten at the national level and be an enormous asset to Austrian Football as it enters it next phase of development. He will assume his new duties immediately including the August 20th friendly against Italy in Nice.

There has been no comments of Andreas Herzog’s involvement but hopefully he’ll continue on and be a mainstay in the coaching ranks.
