In a surprise move, Karel Brückner resigned his post as head of Austria’s national Football team. After only seven months, since taking over for Josef Hickersberger, the former Czech Republic manager decided to leave before the final stages of World Cup qualifying.
Österreichischer Fußball Bund president Dr. Leo Windtner, who just took over for Friedrich Stickler said:
“I would like to sincerely thank Mr Brückner for his efforts in recent months. Together we agreed that we would end our collaborative work amicably and with immediate effect.”
Austria returns to action on April 1 against Romania in Klagenfurt. There has yet to be an announcement on his replacement.
