and now Mirko Slomka comes into the picture

July 1st, 2008 | By: j | 1 Comment »

Austrian press are reporting that former Schalke 04 manager, Mirko Slomka, had an interview with ÖFB President Friedrich Stickler in Vienna regarding the available head coaching position. The 40 year-old Slomka and Andreas Herzog, Austria’s most capped international, are the only individuals known to be in the running at this stage. Both individuals suit the ÖFB’s wishes for a manager young-enough to see through the long-term development process while Herzog, who serves already as an assistant coach to the team, naturally possesses an existing relationship with the team.

Who would you like to see as the new manager?

TBH I would like to see Mirko Slomka in the Bundesliga again. He never really got a chance at Schalke. But all the bigger or at least interesting clubs have no demand at the moment, so this might be a good alternative. I rate him highly. The less demanding schedule probably gives him time to work on his ideas and concepts a bit more as well.
